I am a huge fan of Boston Legal. Beyond all of the reality TV shows out there (Hell’s Kitchen being my current favorite), Boston Legal is really just about the only show I watch. It is smart, witty, entertaining and they are all very well dressed. If for no other reason than keeping your wit honed, you should watch this show.
Along with the announcement of a fourth season, some major players have been cut. Julie Bowen, Constance Zimmer, Mark Valley and Rene Auberjonois all will not be back on the show. John Larroquette will be joining, however, and Christian Clemenson will be joining permanently.
Having been turned onto this show, I have finally come to appreciate Constance Zimmer’s character as she has finally become more personable, so this came as a surprise to me. Julie Bowen and Mark Valley have become rather boring to me over the last season, and with their baby on the way, this made way for a perfect release from the show. At my house, we were just discussing Rene Auberjonois during one of the last episodes and how we rarely see him and aren’t sure exactly what he does, so I guess it won’t really make much of an impact on our watching habits.
John Larroquette can be very funny, but sometimes over the top as well. He was entertaining in The Practice, although he will be playing a different character on Boston Legal. He will be coming from the New York branch of Crane, Poole & Schmidt. When Denny and Alan recently visited the LA offices, it was an entertaining stereotype of lawyers from LA, so I’m looking forward to seeing a New York attorney.
Christian Clemenson has been slowly making his way into more and more episodes, so him becoming a full-time character doesn’t come as a surprise to me.

But it looks like no one every REALLY leaves the show. You’ll notice that Mark Valley has been resurrected as a prosecutor. I think it’s kinda cool to see these “blasts” from the past.
Besides, who could forget the hilarious scene where he chops off the priest’s finger! What a hoot!
