The End of One Chapter
After two years, last Friday marked my last day as Director of Marketing and Technology, Associate Vice President for Chicago Title of Oregon. I learned an incredible deal about marketing and technology as it relates to the real estate industry during that time. I enjoyed my time there immenseley, my coworkers were great and the customers I helped were wonderful people.
So Why Leave
I was simply ready for a new experience. I am very tech-oriented and could only dive so deep into my interests in real estate marketing. Sure, I also felt if I could get out, I should before I was pushed due to market conditions, but the main reason was a feeling that my skills were stagnating.
New Day Job
This coming Sunday night, I will be flying down to Irvine to begin my training with SR Clarke to become a recruiter. The current thought is that I will focus on the IT and Telecommunications industries, areas I am both interested in and knowledgeable about. I am looking very forward to being the person who helps people find a great employer as well as helping employers speed up the frequently long and difficult hiring process.
Real Estate
Although this may sound like I’m leaving real estate, don’t worry about that. I love the real estate industry, I’ve been fascinated by it for many years. The people I’ve met via AgentGenius, Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, REBarCamp, Inman Connect and NAR Expo ‘07 I count as true friends. I plan on continuing to write for AgentGenius and The Portland Real Estate Network. I am currently coaching several real estate professionals on their online marketing programs (with an emphasis on relationships first). As soon as I get fully into the swing of my new day job, I hope to be able to offer classes to Portland area REALTORs again covering a wide variety of topics. I also have my hands in so many real estate side projects that I will be involved in real estate for at least the next 5-10 years, if not forever.
Side Projects
Over the last two years, I have started RETechCoach, joined AgentGenius and The Portland Real Estate Network and consulted many Portland real estate professionals in conjunction with Eugene Design Pro. The only things that may change in that picture is the possible move of RETechCoach to this site and the possibility of working even more directly with Eugene Design Pro.
Why Stop RETechCoach
I have grown up with web design and online marketing. I have years of experience with the restaurant industry, artists and healthcare professionals regarding online marketing. Now I have experience for the real estate industry. I’ve come to realize that the skills I’ve cultivated can be applied to any business of any size in any industry. However, I would like to focus on five industries that interest me most: restaurants, artists, healthcare (I prefer alternative care such as acupuncture, chiropractic, massage therapy and naturopaths, but all are welcome), “green” anything and real estate. So RETechCoach is really only specific to one of those, whereas this site can encompass all topics.
About NickBostic.com
I was all over the place. Depending on who I was talking to, I gave out a different email address, phone number and URL. I was getting overwhelmed. I decided to consolidate my knowledge into one site, aptly named NickBostic.com. Daily (unless life happens), I will be sharing with you some interesting sites, articles and information I have uncovered covering topics such as blogging, email marketing and social networking, along with any other interesting marketing, technology or “green” pieces I find interesting enough to share.
I will also start doing promotions very soon. Some will involve learning from you to enter into drawings for gadgets or free consultations/coaching. Some will involve hand-picked charities, both in terms of raising money for them as well as helping them with their online marketing pro bono. So please, stay tuned for those.
Thank You
For those of you who follow me, friend me, subscribe or link, thank you very much for letting me get to know you and for sticking around through my changes. I look forward to opening even more dialogue with you very soon.
A Call for Questions
Having been involved in technology and internet marketing my entire life, I realize I sometimes take some of the most basic concepts for granted. So please, ask any questions you may have. Remember, the only dumb question is the one not asked.
