  • For those of you who don’t quite understand why a hard drive works (and were too afraid to ask) this is probably the best, most user-friendly explanation I’ve ever read. The biggest point if you don’t read the article: back up your data.
  • I don’t think the generation has anything to do with the threat level, but instead an average understanding of technology. My friends in the 35-50 age range are great, smart people. But none of them carry a USB thumb drive with them constantly. Many of my Gen Y friends (and myself) do. I see it as being prepared (and more practical than burning CD’s), but I can see an IT manager seeing that as a security threat.
