So the other day, I asked my fellow recruiter “Why has no one ever tried to recruit me? I’ve been a leader in every position I’ve held, I have a large skill set, I know integrated marketing inside and out and I learn new positions very quickly. So why not?”
His answer was right to the point, “Recruiters get paid a percentage of the position salary. So we tend to focus on people making [DOLLAR AMOUNT KEPT CONFIDENTIAL] per year or more.”
Two thoughts crossed my mind:
- How do you know how much I make?
- So why has no one ever tried to recruit me?
He then proceeded to make a call to a candidate who was making about a third of what he was expecting.
I’m going to allow that to entertain me through the weekend since I’m planning on staying out of the ice and snow.
Have a great weekend.
