I wanted to share my thoughts on so called “marketing bootcamps”. I’ve seen a lot of these popping up all over the place and have attended quite a few myself. I know a few people who put them on and they are great people. However, I personally don’t believe in a one size fits all approach.
Unique Needs
Everyone has unique needs and unique people they are marketing to. So to say that an online marketing bootcamp is going to work for everyone who signs up, I just can’t agree with that. I think the lessons learned, the skills acquired and the sites introduced will all come to a new internet marketer in time, but they should really explore based on their unique needs.
Real Estate
Most of the real estate marketing bootcamps encourage writing a blog and interacting on social networking sites like Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter. While I agree that using all of these sites are valuable, the order is what I question. I believe that people should start with the activities they get most excited about because it will actually show through in the end product. For example, if you really like the idea of sharing your photos, you should probably be out on a site like Flickr. And if a more group chat, mind sharing site like Twitter doesn’t sound appealing to you, it might not be the right time to start out there.
So save your money on a boot camp and just hire the people teaching them (or me) to create a customized plan based on your specific needs. It may cost more for the private lesson as opposed to a group class, but the end result will be far superior.
