Fuzzy Math Friday: 1.5 > 3

1.5 is greater than 3…when it comes to water.

What Am I Talking About?

A tech/marketing-related passion of mine is green business.  How is it related? Sending out email is far more environmentally friendly than postcards.  Blogging is more “green” than mailed newsletters.  Webinars are more eco-friendly than meetings.  Catch my drift?

1.5 > 3

I recently upgraded my shower head.  I realized my old one was a 3 Gallon Per Minute (GPM) model and there’s now a 1.5 GPM model available, so I was using twice as much as I could be.  I live in Oregon, it rains a lot, so why am I concerned with saving water?  The biggest issue is we waste a lot of water, so any little bit we can save is great.  Also, I envision a day when we have a national water/electric grid and we’ll be asked to share with other parts of the country, so I might as well get started now.  Here’s a great local link to explain a bit more.

A Review

Yes, this is going to turn into a product review.  I’m that pleased…

Here’s what I got:

Waterpik ECO 563 EcoFlow
Waterpik ECO 563 EcoFlow

Waterpik ECO 563 EcoFlow

(feel free to click on it to get it cheaper than I did through Amazon)

First, let me say, I don’t miss my old shower head.  The flow is plenty strong to get my hair wet fast and rinse it out just as fast as the old one.  It has massage settings that work just as well as the old one.  It keeps hot water flowing, keeping me warm.

Here’s the weird part: it is noticable that it is lower flow.  I’m not sure if it’s sound or sight that’s giving it away, but you can just tell that it is pumping out less water.  But when it hits you, it’s not noticable at all.  I’m still getting over the mental part.

So there’s usually 2 showers per day in my house at about 15 minutes each.  By switching, I’m now saving 45 gallons PER DAY, 1,350 PER MONTH and 16,425 PER YEAR!  Suffice to say, I’ll have my new showerhead paid off in no time, plus I’m doing my part to be a little greener.
